Genesis of the MVP

No Live tackling in practice

Buddy Teevens, Head Football Coach at Dartmouth College, has a very simple philosophy, which has led to dramatically better football teams:

1) No player will ever tackle a teammate in a live contact setting.
2) The fundamentals of tackling must be taught in controlled environments.
3) Simulate live tackling technique using mobile training devices, such as the MVP.

Watch Buddy in the video below discussing his philosophy of no live tackling in practice.  The video provides a few examples of drills that helped Dartmouth win the Ivy League Championship in 2015.

About mvp llc

Mobile Virtual Player LLC is an independent, privately held company headquartered in Lebanon, NH, that specializes in innovating and developing game changing technology that simulates human motion and performance for sport and other training applications so that athletes can train and compete in a safer environment. MVP created the world’s first rigorously engineered robotic mobile tackling dummy. Using state-of-the-art mechanical and electronic design, MVP’s team of engineers and designers are revolutionizing how athletes train for any sport, safely.

Product Description

The “Mobile Virtual Player” (MVP) is the only powered training device that replicates an in-game experience by simulating the size, weight and agility of an athlete. Resembling an ordinary tackling dummy from the outside, the MVP defies its ordinary appearance with its mobility, its self–righting, and its ability to be controlled remotely. Its motorized system is encased in foam, protecting the athlete while they train with an MVP. MVP technology represents innovative engineering by offering maneuverability and agility to training devices that have been stationary for decades.
